#### What Is Salesforce AppExchange?

[Salesforce AppExchange](https://appexchange.salesforce.com) is an enterprise cloud marketplace that offers apps and cloud consulting partners to facilitate organizational operations. With AppExchange, customers can find the tools and help they need to solve business challenges faster. AppExchange also enables users to connect their apps to Salesforce and list them in the store even if they weren't built on App Cloud.

##### Why do you need to list your app on AppExchange?

Salesforce AppExchange gives you access to the tools and infrastructure required to build apps and extensions, thereby saving you time, effort, and money. Salesforce lets you start with an idea and turn it into a business.

##### How to list your app on AppExchange

**1.  Come up with an idea**Listing your app on AppExchange begins with an idea. Do you want to create a unique product, or do you want to build an app that extends Salesforce’s existing functions to meet specific needs?

**2.  Build your app**Now that you have thought of an app to build, it is time to dive into the development stage. This involves building your app and creating the right development environment for it. With Salesforce AppExchange, creating a development environment is easy and is part of your subscription. All you have to do is fill in a form, and within five minutes, you'll be ready to start developing in the new environment. You can also let your team or selected customers test out your app by creating a beta version.

**3.  Register as a Salesforce Partner**By registering as a Salesforce Partner, you gain access to the Partner Community and the Environment Hub. You can register for the Salesforce Partner Program through the Salesforce signup wizard.

**4. Create Partner Organization accounts**You can create Partner Organization accounts, or “orgs,” as part of the process of developing your app. If you're already an app publisher and haven’t created a Partner account, you can still do so to take advantage of the valuable extended stats you'll receive on app downloads and usage. Once you're part of the Partner Community, you have everything you need to complete your app and get it ready for publishing.

**5.  Track your app’s progress**After releasing your app, you should consistently monitor it to see if it needs updating. Updating your apps is straightforward with Salesforce. If you discover your app needs an update within a year of its release, all you have to do is update the AppExchange listing to give your customers access to the latest version. However, if the previous version was released more than a year ago, you may need to submit the updated version of your app for another security review.
